Greener Boating

The terms 'Climate Change' and 'Greenhouse Effect' are now in everyday use, in our school curriculums, the media, and our workplaces and homes. As more and more of us take to the water, we risk damaging the natural environment, so as boaters we all have a vested interest in protecting the environment where we spend our leisure time.

Heritage Boats are committed to doing our bit for the environment and reduce our own carbon footprint in the manufacture of our boats by purchasing our timber from sustainable sources, reusing waste timber from our workshops for heating, using water based paints etc.

If we can change our habits then so can you and encourage other boaters to do the same. Together we can make a difference.

The Green Blue, launched in 2005, is an innovative environmental awareness programme set up by the British Marine Federation and the Royal Yachting Association. Its aim is to promote the sustainable use of coastal and inland waters by boating and watersports participants, as well as the sustainable operation and development of the recreational boating industry.

They offer practical advice, help, guidance and even money saving tips for anyone who wishes to help keep our coasts and inland waters the pleasant places that we so enjoy.
